The ability and duty of a UK court to adjudicate upon whether or not a UK security paper patent was infringed by foreign banknotes traded within the jurisdiction was considered by the Court of Appeal . It considered that the UK court had jurisdiction and a duty to decide the issue. The keeping and trading in foreign banknotes within the jurisdiction was not a sovereign act by a foreign power but more akin to commodity trading.
