About Chambers

Hogarth Chambers is a set of barristers specialising in intellectual property and chancery law.

Hogarth Chambers is based in the beautiful and historic setting of New Square, Lincoln's Inn, in the heart of London. Its name, "Hogarth" commemorates William Hogarth, the 18th century artist who, in large part, championed the passage of the Copyright Act 1735.

Despite its historic setting, Hogarth Chambers is a set which lives in the 21st century. It has a flourishing practice in intellectual property and its members are experienced and knowledgeable in all forms of intellectual property from biotechnological patents to musical copyright disputes; from trade mark disputes to breach of confidence. Many of its members have scientific or technical degrees and relish getting to grips with new technologies. Members of Hogarth Chambers have appeared in many reported cases and they write and contribute to numerous leading textbooks in the field of intellectual property.

Hogarth Chambers also has an active traditional and commercial chancery practice with members reported in a number of landmark decisions and, again, writing and contributing to leading textbooks.

Hogarth Chambers is well known for its frequent seminars and its members also regularly teach and lecture to students and other professionals.
