Actavis v Janssen Pharmaceutica

The claimant sought revocation of the defendant’s patent relating to nebivolol, a drug used in connection with treatment for high blood pressure.  The patent was revoked, other than claim 5 which was valid, on the grounds of anticipation and obviousness.  The patent explained a new mechanism for the therapeutic effect but did not in fact claim anything new or non-obvious (other than in claim 5).
